Thank You's
When we first heard of the book Stolen Life: Journey of a Cree Woman, written by Rudy Wiebe, co-authored by Yvonne Johnson, we heard of a lady who wrote articles on victims of crime. We contacted her and she supported us from day one without any judgment. She willingly published our article and has kept in touch with us since. She is now in a different field with the Safe Justice Encounter which is a pilot project to do research on victims of crime.
Wilma Derksen is also a victim of crime. Her daughter was abducted and murdered while returning home from school. Her murder was never solved. It is still a mystery to this day. I think that this must be a hard job and being triggered by your own issues must come up daily.
Wilma, I would like to thank you for being there when we needed you. I found you to be a very warm loving person who had compassion for everyone. I don't know where we would have been without you.
Thank you for finding funding for us to go to Edmonton to meet with Yvonne Johnson. This was a big step for our family and we appreciate the length you went to get a team together and all the paper work to get us in a federal penitentiary to have our meeting with Yvonne. I would also like to thank your associates: Rene and Chris for their time and support.
Lastly, I would like to thank your assistant, Angela who recently came on board. I want you to know that I have appreciated every minute of your support. THANK YOU very much.
Sincerely,
The Chaboyer family.
